Tulip Time

Painting large gestural strokes with expression is what I love to do and also the sort of painting I admire. This section of a 30x30 oil start on canvas began with lots of gestural movement followed by selective colour placement and building from big to small shapes and brush strokes. It was a challenge to maintain the gestural flow and rhythm while continuing to buildup the surface. My objective is to balance and relate brushwork, drawing and impasto in an Alla Prima approach. I'll post a pic of the finished painting tomorrow.
